The 2011 Petties: Thank you for voting!

Allegra Ruby The Conscious Cat cats on sofa

Voting for the 2011 Petties ended yesterday, and I can’t thank all of you enough for voting for us for Best Cat Blog and Best Pet Blog, day after day after day. Thank you for all your support, and for putting up with my constant reminders to vote. Allegra and Ruby are taking a well-deserved break after all their hard work on our campaign.

Now we wait. Winners will be announced on Friday, August 26. Contrary to prior announcements that the winners would be announced at a live event at BlogPaws, DogTime Media informed nominees today that there will be a virtual ceremony announcing the winners, which will be broadcast via YouTube on Friday, August 26, at 5pm EST. I will let you know details as they become available.

Every Pettie winner, and there will be eight, will receive $1000 to be donated to a shelter or rescue group of their choice. I will split my prize money between two groups, Casey’s House, the group who rescued Buckley, and Kitten Associates, the Connecticut based rescue group founded by fellow Pettie nominee Robin Olson of Covered in Cat Hair fame.

We couldn’t have gotten this far without all of you. You nominated us for not just one, but two Petties. You voted for us each and every day for the past month. More importantly, you come here every day to read our blog.

With readers like you, we’re already winners.

You are a winner in my book already. But the suspense will be of waiting, well let’s just say, we are here when you need us, this time.
