Allegra cat napping sleeping sunshine

Now I lay me down to sleep,
the king-size bed is soft and deep.
I sleep right in the center groove.
My human can hardly move!

I’ve trapped her legs, she’s tucked in tight,
and here is where I pass the night.
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
’til morning comes and “I want food!”

I sneak up slowly to begin
my nibbles on my human’s chin.
She wakes up quickly, I have sharp teeth
and my claws I will unsheath.

For the morning’s here and it’s time to play.
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
this human person that I see.

The one who hugs me and holds me tight
And sacrifices her bed at night.

  1. I forgot to mention that I do pet sitting (dogs and cats) 5 to 10 miles from where I live. I am also a member of Pet Sitters International. I enjoy the magazine Pet Sitters World and the many articles.

  2. Thanks for the cat’s prayer. I had never seen that one before. I have four cats of my own and a dog. In a previous business I found a dog’s prayer. My husband and I own a cat boarding facility on our property. He works a full time job away from home. Is it all right to put this poem on our website?

  3. What a great poem! I’ve already “nabbed” it and will send it out on my email blast to my clients. They will love it! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Hi again from Rhodes, Greece! It’s so heartwarming and refreshing to read your wonderful blog, Ingrid! I really love it here, it’s so beautiful, the islands of the Aegean are a paradise of beauty… but all the street cats living a life of hardships break my heart… I feel so helpless and I KNOW they ALL – EACH and every one of them – deserve a life full of love like our beloved kitties do.
Right now Pippi, a sweet cat who looks a lot like Zoe (but smaller and with darker patches), is sleeping in the house… She comes every day, is very clean and healthy, and obviously neutered as she never has kittens. I’m so glad to know my boyfriend (who lives here) will take care of her after I leave! She is a lucky cat here… I think she must have another family too, because she sometimes disappears for a couple days and comes back well fed and clean… and a couple days ago, when I kissed her sweet little head, I think I could smell boiled meat (another kitchen? :)).

  5. Can you please e-mail this to me? I LOVE it!! and it’s every bit the truth!!! My cats take over my bed, and I let them!!!!!

  6. This was fantastic!!!

I just solved a mystery!! I get your monthly newsletter but for some reason your blog posts are not coming to me and I am embarrassed to say I think they haven’t been coming for quite some time!

I am re-signing up and I just added you DIRECTLY to my Blog Roll on my blog (that is shown on my blog page)….

Hopefully this will rectify the problem!! I’m not “Live” on Facebook often like many so I don’t often see updates there!

    Have a wonderful holiday weekend!!!
