The Conscious Cat was inspired by Amber, who was the original conscious cat. She was wise old soul in a feline body who shared my life for ten years until she passed away suddenly on May 13, 2010. She shared some of her wisdom with us mere humans in her own column, Amber’s Mewsings. You can read Amber’s full story here.

On April 6, 2010, Allegra joined our family. She has since become a regular contributor to this site in her popular column, Allegra’s World.
Our newest family member, Ruby, joined us on April 17, 2011. She is already a regular contributor and shares her view of the world in her column, Ruby’s Reflections.
