We’ve been fans of Balanced Blends raw food for quite some time. Our only “complaint” has been that up until now, they only had chicken and beef varieties. Allegra and Ruby love turkey, so we were delighted when Balanced Blends asked us to review their new turkey formula.

About Balanced Blends

Balanced Blends is a Boulder Colorado based company, founded by enthusiastic pet parents with a distinct curiosity and interest in pet nutrition. Initially, the three founders each prepared raw foods at home for their four-legged family members. They wanted to create a commercially available complete and balanced raw diet for cats and dogs that would help make raw feeding easy for pet parents’ busy schedules. Working with veterinarians and a PhD nutritionist, they created Balanced Blends.

They see “Balanced Raw” as more than just a balanced formulation. “Balanced Raw” begins with fresh, human-grade proteins. It continues with their formulations, which meet and exceed AAFCO and FEDIAF (The European Pet Food Industry Federation) standards. Additionally, they optimize the fat ratios, amino acids and mineral content. They take the extra safety steps incumbent on raw meals and finish with the convenience of home delivery. We see every piece to be crucial to our “Balanced Raw”.

All Balanced Blends formulas feature

• Fresh high quality human grade ingredients
• Diligently formulated recipes balancing fats, minerals and amino acids
• Food production safety including HPP in final packaging (we do not re-open after HPP)
• Convenient Home Delivery – single orders or subscriptions

Balanced Blends Raw Turkey Dinner

Putting the new turkey dinner to the test

We received a starter pack of the new turkey formula, which contains 2 pounds of food in convenient 8 ounce packages. The individual package size is perfect for us, because it’s exactly one day’s worth of food for the girls.

To say they loved the new formula would be putting it mildly. The girls are always good eaters, but there was not a speck of food left on their plates after feeding this formula!

My starter pack arrived yesterday, and it was frozen solid. I’m trying a chub today on my three boys. My cats only can eat raw turkey because of food allergies. (Two eat LID duck canned food.) Balanced Blends also adds salmon oil, and Rad Cat removed that ingredient months ago.

    Ingrid,
Thank you for all you do. I am actually feeding the balanced blend to one of my cats right now, the chicken formula. He is eating it which is very satisfying since I have gone full circle on canned, freeze dried, etc. Although the latter two I just mentioned are good, I know the raw is better for him. I wish I had more time to speak about my transition to the raw but I can only say I’m really glad I finally made the decision to feed it to him regularly. I was hesitant at first as I know many of your readers probably are but the quality ingredients, and the extensive safety measures helped me finally take the plunge. I hope this may help some of your readers who have been wanting to try it but have been scared to do so with all the negative stuff you read about the raw. Yik with Balanced Blends has been very helpful with any questions I’ve had,
    Thnx again

That’s an excellent deal on the starter pack. We’re very excited about turkey as none of my crew is fond of beef. I can’t wait to see how well the turkey goes over.
