Review: Book Clubbed by Lorna Barrett

With each new installment of Lorna Barrett’s Booktown mystery series featuring mystery bookstore owner Tricia Miles and her cat Miss Marple, I look forward to visiting Stoneham, the small town in New Hampshire where the series is set. What’s not to love about a series set in a town filled with bookstores, and an adorable bookstore cat?

In Book Clubbed, Tricia and he sister Angelica are trying to find a killer who used a bookshelf as the murder weapon. While Tricia is trying to solve the murder, she not only discovers a disturbing secret from her own family history, but she must also deal with both her former husband and former boyfriend vying for her affections.

Like the previous books in the series, Book Clubbed features a fast moving plot, immensely likeable characters and, of course, Miss Marple. The last few pages had me reading with my heart in my throat, and I was thankful that Lorna Barrett had written this on the cover of my review copy:

This wonderful cozy mystery makes a great addition to your summer reading list. The author provides enough back story with each book so it can be read on its own, but why deprive yourself of the fun of reading the entire series?

Lorna Barrett is a New York Times bestselling and Agatha Award nominated author. You can learn more about Lorna by visiting her website and her blog Dazed and Confused.

I received an advance review copy of this book from the author. Receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.
