Review and giveaway: In the Kitchen with Cookie 2013 calendar
If you’re still looking for a calendar for the new year, you’re going to love In the Kitchen with Cookie, created by animal artist Bernadette Kazmarski of The Creative Cat.
This calendar, which comes both as a wall calendar and as a journal calendar, is a sweet tribute to Bernadette’s tortoiseshell cat Cookie, who passed away a year ago. Cookie’s intrepid spirit of curiosity often landed her in bowls and other kitchen accessories, and Bernadette captured her in a series of photos exploring alternate uses of these items.
I received the journal version of the calendar for review. It’s beautifully designed: each page features a blue and white checked “tablecloth’ background that really sets off Cookie’s beautiful tortie colors. Each month features a recipe along with a little back story about the recipe, and how Cookie found herself in her “compromising position” shown in the photos. (Click on the images for a larger view.)

I love to cook. Cooking brings back so many memories of recipes that my mom cooked many moons ago…the calendar I have now is a Farmer’s Almanac that lists a different recipe each month, and my thinking is, you can never have enough recipes
I hadn’t heard about Cookie before. I would love to see the photos of her, love to cook, am always always looking for new recipes, and need a 2013 calendar. Thanks!
I would love to win this calendar. My cat Natalie always wanted to be with me while I cooked. Nat has been gone for several years now but I always turn my body around and look before actually stepping back while cooking. Her favorite spot was right behind me. This calendar would be a sweet reminder of our good times cooking.
I think that it’s so wonderful that Ms. Kazmarski is honoring Cookie this way, and I would love to see her memories of her (as well as use the calendar)!
I would love to win this cat calendar as I love cat calendars. This calendar is a unique idea as it is a tribute to a beloved Tortie, I like the fact it can be used as a wall or a journal calendar. What a great way to memorialize a special cat doing silly things, like sleeping in and sitting in kitchen bowls. Cats and kitchens do go together since cats love to eat and beg.

I LOVW cat calendars and I miss my tortie Lorelei who was filled my life with love and laughter for 12 years before going to the rainbow bridge five years ago. I still miss her and would love a tortie calendar for my kitchen wall in 2013.

Looks like cats and kitchens go together for many of us! They certainly do here. I love sharing Cookie and the elements of my kitchen, as well as the things we were cooking!
Love to cook, and have my first Tortie (seriously, why don’t the shelters warn you?). She’s a nut and I love my little Bailey…
I have recently started doing more baking and cooking and am always looking for new recipes that don’t require much standing stirring and prep work. Therefore I am trying to collect various recipe sources. Whenever I cook or bake I can always depend on at least one or two if my kitties coming out to the kitchen to supervise. Personally I think they are just waiting for me to drop something good that they can munch on.
I also do not have a 2013 calendar yet and am having to use the one on my computer to know what the date is.

I would love to win this calendar. I enjoy cooking and one of my cats, Amara, enjoys “helping” me by following me around the kitchen, wrapping herself around my legs, and begging to be picked up. Many a break has had to be taken because Amara needed some hugs. A calendar/recipe/book of cat memories would be a good addition to my library.
This is really nice. I like the fact that she honored Cookie this way. I would love to have it even though I would be reminded with each picture that Cookie is gone and it will probably make me cry. It doesn’t matter if I know an animal or not, I still get upset.

Love cat calendars, I get one or two every year. Would love to win this because I love cats and love to cook. I’m always on the lookout for new recipes to try, and with the photos of the kitty it will be a smash in our household.

I feel like I knew Cookie just from following Bernadette’s blogs! Bernadette has a fabulous way of translating cat to human and putting words to their crazy antics.
