Ruby’s Reflections: Birthday Girl
It’s my birthday today! I’m two years old! I’m all grown up now!
Mom still calls me her kitten because I’m still pretty tiny, but not nearly as tiny as I was in this photo, which is the one that Mom fell in love with when she first saw me on the website of the SPCA of Northern Virginia.
Even though I loved Mom from the minute I first met her, I was nervous about coming to my new home. What if my big sister Allegra didn’t like me? I shouldn’t have worried. By the end of the first day, we hung out on the loveseat together. I think she was really happy to have a little sister!
I can’t wait to see what Mom and Allegra have planned for me today. I’ve got my party hat and I’m ready to celebrate!

It’s always a bit scary entering a home with a resident cat already there, but I managed to win over my big brother, Mr. Moe, too. It took quite awhile though. At first he hissed at me all the time and arched his back at me, then ignored me but my cuteness and antics won him over.
I remember how hard it was so when Manny came into my home, I was very nice to him right away and gave him a tour of the whole place.

Happy Birthday Miss Ruby! My little tortie girl Kiki turned 2 in May. We adopted her when she was 6 months old and so teeny tiny! Enjoy your day birthday girl!
Ruby says thank you for all the birthday wishes! The birthday girl is currently taking a nap – I think she partied a little too hard earlier today. The party will continue after her special birthday dinner!
Ruby is not done celebrating. She is just resting for her next round. I can’t believe she is 2 already.

I’m sorry this is a little late but I hope you had a great birthday! I hope your mom and Allegra did something extra special for you! You are very beautiful and remind me of a cat I used to have. Her name was Bebe. You would have liked her. She looked almost like you and she was very friendly. She never caused any trouble. She even liked my parakeet! I still have a picture of them together. Happy belated birthday and I wish you so many, many more to come!
