Mews and Nips: Man Rescues Cat Trapped in Car Light
Today we have not one, but two stories of people going to great lengths to rescue cats trapped in cars. Our first story is about Mercedes, a calico kitten who was rescued by quick thinking photographer Antonio Rosario, who heard what he thought was a cat crying while driving in Brooklyn, NY. When he looked out the window, he saw a Mercedes in the lane next to him. The car had a missing headlight, and Rosario saw the little face of a kitten crying in the light’s housing. The driver of the Mercedes and several other people helped rescue the kitten, who now lives with Rosario and goes by the name Mercy. Read the full story on Antonio Rosario’s blog.
In another miraculous rescue story, public safety and parking services officers, auto mechanics, and the woman driving all worked to free a frightened kitten that had taken a harrowing ride in a car’s engine compartment on Staten Island, NY. The kitten now has a home with the woman whose car he was trapped in. Life with Cats reports that Chassis’ rescue took eight people and two hours. Read the full story on Life with Cats.
We previously reported on Maloos, the cat who was rescued from the streets of Tehran, Iran, and brought back to the United States. Catsparella shared a happy ending to the story: Maloos found his forever home. San Francisco Animal Care and Control, where Maloos was being treated for multiple injuries, was initially concerned that it would be hard to find a home for him, but so many loving individuals were willing to open up their hearts and homes to Maloos that SF/ACC ending up holding a lottery to determine who would be lucky enough to adopt this beautiful boy. Today’s video brings attention to the need for TNR (Trap Neuter Return) in a humorous way with a parady of the song “I’m sexy and I know it.” In addition to bringing a smile to my face, this video makes me want to visit the beautiful beach it was shot at. What could be better than a beach with lots of cats!
Have a great weekend!

Such wonderful rescue stories!! Thank you for sharing! I love the video too – especially seeing the ear tipping to signify the success of TNR. Only thing, now I can’t get that song out of my head!!
That song does have that earworm quality, doesn’t it, Deb?
Now that’s a story for the ages!!
I couldn’t decide which of the two rescue stories I liked more, so I included them both, Savannah!
Mercy is absolutely beautiful
I love Merci’s eyes.
These are all wonderful stories-thank you for sharing.
