Tammy, I was aware of .org not being reserved for non-profits anymore. I guess Dr. Kay's information is a little outdated on that count.

And I also agree that Dr. Kay's claim to be wary of ALL business sponsored websites is probably a bit too general. I think she just wants people to be aware that they need to "vet" (pun intended!) the sites they visit for accuracy. I think what Dr. Kay is referring to is sites along the lines of the example of the Addison's Breakthrough site, which is basically an endless sales letter with a lot of hype and very little factual information about the product that is being sold.

I think in the case of your site, the credentials of all of you more than speak for the quality of your site and your products!

Hi Ingrid - good info overall - just a couple things...

.ORG is not only for non-profits anymore. Anyone can actually purchase and use a .org address, so these may or may not always be credible websites just based on their address. (.gov and .edu remain for gov't and educational institutions though.)

Also, not all business websites are bad! :) We sell products at www.veterinarywisdom.com, however, we also have a ton of information that is free (without any purchase) and very credible about pet loss, grief, the human-animal bond, etc.

I'm glad you enjoyed the post, Mason.

Tammy, I think it can be pretty overwhelming for a lot of pet owners to discern good information from bad. Hopefully, this will help!
