What a fun reminder, Ingrid. Thank you for pulling this out from your archives. Remarkably, this week will have a few repeats of that day (almost). Have two years really passed? In that time, there have been fur-filled reunions, a whiskered arsonist, a grafitti artist, multiple home ‘rearrangings’, many tense trips to the veterinarian, numerous shredded rolls of tissue and paper towels, lots of kitty-fetch, brand new fur-friends, and tearful, heartwrenching goodbyes. I have been so privileged to work with the wonderful people who have come into my life over the years-as well as their beautiful creatures. Good times. Sad times, and special times. I am inspired to write more.

Debbi-thank you so very much. I love spending time with Moe and Abbey. Your home is a safe-haven for these kitties and a wonderful, calming place to spend time with them. And, as you know, my visits there are bittersweet and my heart still aches for Amber. It is a privilege to be able to watch over your kitties.

Goodness Nance-thank you so much for your lovely words. I am lucky to be doing this. The capacity of these creatures to give back always amazes me. I think this is one of the things that draws me to this work.

Ingrid-Thank you for the opportunity to ‘guest post’. It has been a wonderful experience.

Oh Renee, what a beautiful posting and description of a day in your life as a cat sitter. Every sentence so overflows with the great love you have for every cat (and sometimes dog) whose daily life you are entrusted with. And what a special being you are to provide such wonderful care and tenderness to each fur baby as well as to their worried mommy/daddy who must go away and leave them behind. Your description of each stop you made was heart touching. Your clients are so blessed to have you in their lives. What a find you are for anyone in that area with a special fur baby who needs care while their people work or travel.

Well, Renee, I think you know how I feel. It always bothered me that my cats would hide for other sitters but they were completely comfortable with your presence in their safe haven. They know you love them as much as mommy does and that speaks volumes to me. I, too, became teary at reading your posting here, because I know your words are heartfelt in sincere. Thank you for the valuable service you provide those of use that need occasional vacations and time away from home.

Cindy, Thank you for your comment. I admit, I become teary-eyed when I’m visiting most of my little kitty clients, especially when I think about the strength of the bond that exists between them and their humans. Today is an ‘off’ day, and I’m pleased to say that as I’m writing to you, there is one kitty watching (as usual) from over the backside of my laptop, one in my lap, and one squeezed in behind me on the chair. The others are here at my feet. It’s a wonderful day!
